Great flight jacket
Surprisingly high quality jacket. For $56 this thing is great. Super quality, nice thickness. I was afraid it would run smaller than the listed size but it is true to the size I ordered. I was also expecting a thinner, almost windbreaker weight jacket but I am pleasantly surprised by the thickness and warmth. It’s a great jacket even though it’s made in china. Getting the same thing that is American made would be out of my price range.

My first nylon flight jacket-
So I’ve had this jacket for most of the winter and on through the ‘extended winter’ this year. No complaints whatsoever, especially for what you’re getting for the money. I picked this up for about 40 bucks. More that reasonable. Probably not as good as the Alpha brand in the stitching and the cuffs etc, but much better than a civilian jacket in quality and less expensive. I bought this because I wanted to save my black A-2, and with a recent job change, I noticed that it was getting dirtier than I liked. I decided to go nylon because I wanted something water resistant/easier to clean etc than leather. I received the jacket and like some reviewers have mentioned, it’s “crinkly” and noisy. That’ll go away in a short time and the nylon will soften. As you put it on, you’ll see that it’s “puffy”. Although somewhat insulated, it is very light weight and very comfortable. It fits looser in the arms and the shoulders, but tighter in the chest. Like other reviewers, I would definitely recommend going one size up from your t shirt size. The advantage is that this is a great jacket for being active, driving, etc, anything where your arms are extended because the sleeves don’t ride up. However, this makes the jacket less a little less stylish and more utilitarian. The shoulders and arms are a little baggy. The jacket does exactly what I bought it for, though. I do get compliments on it. The arm pocket is handy. The pen holders are neat, but you need to find a shorter that average size pen. Being able to quickly grab something having gloves on is works out well. The jacket is warm in colder weather and does a great job out in the wind. It can get a bit warm in milder temps, though.. especially in the arms… whew! I’ve had to take it off in a full-on sweat. I went sage green. It goes well with my khaki slacks/black polished shoes uniform.

Better Buy on Amazon
I originally purchased two of these from the manufacturer. I had an issue with sizing and it was a headache to remedy the issue. In the time it took me to go back and forth with them, I found the same item on Amazon for a better price and faster shipping! THIS is why I usually start my search with Amazon and I appreciate experiences like these where I find what I want for a good price and quality.The jacket fits well. I wish it were more puffy but that is not the nature of the design. The color endures washing and the jacket has retained its shape. I am happy I found this because it was exactly what we needed.

Cheap, Flawed, Don’t Buy. I’ve returned it.
I bought this to replace an MA-1 I bought from Galls(?) some 16 years ago. The pockets didn’t like all the use and washing.I figured, “Hey! This Rothco was a contract builder for these in the 60’s. It’s gotta be good!” No. Absolutely not.Here’s my issues in numbered order:1. The outer shell was OK. No better or worse than the ages old jacket I can’t let go. Cuffs seemed good as well. Arm length was OK.2. The pockets were some thin synthetic gray material, and they were very shallow. You’d have trouble fitting an average smart phone into it. My hands were fighting for space inside them.3. The lining of the jacket was so thin you could see through it. Flip it inside out and snag something, and you’d lose all your stuffing.4. The zipper sucks. I had to fight with it for three minutes to get it to zip up all the way because it catches. Do they make bear traps?5. The Chinese Factory that produces these don’t seem to understand American sizes properly.5.a.The sleeves were great for length.5.b. Across the shoulders it was too tight.5.c. Across the torso it was too tight.5.d. This jacket is entirely too short. It was so busy hugging my shoulders that it couldn’t drop down to my belt line.6. Inclusion of extra snaps tells me that the snaps you put on it were junk, and it’s not a great confidence booster.I’m 5’11” and broad shouldered. So much so that I require 2XL just so it hangs correctly across my shoulders. It also lets me throw a hoodie underneath for an extra layer when needed. This failed every aspect of my requirements. I could have gone 3XL to get shoulder fit, but the bad zipper, see through lining, and shallow pockets make this a non starter. I’m returning it. And am avoiding all Rothco products from here on out.Long story short, If you want something durable, and well built, this is not it.

Although this product has very large sizes, it may not fit if you have a lot of belly fat.
First – I want to say this product appears to be incredibly well made, it seems like it would be very warm and – if it fit – comfy.I’m a very obese man (working on that), and I have found it extremely difficult to find jackets that fit me that are not hundreds of dollars. This one looked amazing, but when I tried to put it on, although the shoulders are perfect, the sleeves are the exact length, and it’s about the right size around the chest… the size does not make allowance for big people who have a larger belly than their chest.If you’re not morbidly obese this jacket is great. If you need a large size because you are a very large muscular person, then the big and tall sizes of this jacket will probably fit you great. But it is not designed for fat folks like me. It makes me very sad to have to return it.
