I am preparing to take my remote Pilots exam and was having issues with maps and understanding – so I ordered this one as it is local for me and I can study and practice with the map – so important to have the actual map for learning purposes

Typical Quality Sectional Chart. Must have for pilots, even if you use a EFB.
I primarily use Foreflight for my flight planning and for the map while in flight. But I do like to keep a paper sectional chart with me in the cockpit as a back up. Also, my passenger likes to hold the map and follow along our route. This is the same exact chart the goverment makes and you can buy at any FBO or online aviation supplier. I’m so glad I can get this on Amazon now, for ease of purchase. Great typical quality map, with that fresh government ink smell. lol. Now for the art of folding it in such a manner where it is actually beneficial to me….it seems my destination airport is always ”in the fold”

FAA Chart: VFR Sectional NEW YORK SNY (Current Edition)
There’s not much to say except, this is the real deal. It’s the official chart, so nothing else is or can be better. It takes a bit of practice and study however to understand what you’re looking at.

Only if you need something on paper, otherwise stay up to date using your phone/computer
With so many changes coming down the pike from the FAA, these printed maps all have a fairly short expiration date. As well, even if your flying in a unrestricted area, you have to check that a temporary restriction hasn’t been imposed of short duration. My personal opinion of the current state of all sectional maps is that they desperately need work to make them more readable. I can’t fault this map for that, but it’s just my bone to pick.
