Victor Engel –
Coax cable probably too thin, so probably excessive signal loss
In a quick test my homemade spider antenna outperformed this antenna located at the same place. I will try again after mounting it on my pole and hoisting it up. I’m skeptical, though, because the coax cable seems too thin. For that length of coax, I think it should be much thicker. The Flightaware antenna that I bought 9 years ago has a cable about twice the diameter.Edit: I am changing my review from 1 star to 3 stars. The antenna is good. It’s only the cable that leaves much to be desired. If you want to get the full benefit of the antenna, ditch the cable, and get a good one. For this length, you should use something like LMR400 coax. I ordered a separate cable and got about 5 dB additional signal compared to the cable that came with this antenna.
