Customers say

Customers find the ADS-B antenna performs well, with one noting it works with Raspberry Pi 3 and another reporting extended AirAware reception by 150 miles. Moreover, they appreciate its build quality, with solid construction and a sturdy bracket, and find it easy to set up and mount, with one mentioning installation in the attic. Additionally, they value its dual frequency support and consider it good value for money. However, the cable quality receives mixed reviews.

Great ADS-B Antenna with Impressive Range!
I’ve been using this 1090MHz/978MHz Dual Band ADS-B Antenna in my attic, and the performance has been outstanding. Even without mounting it outdoors, I’m consistently receiving signals from aircraft up to 200 miles away! The build quality is solid, and it integrates perfectly with my ADS-B setup.Pros:✅ Excellent Reception – The 5dBi gain provides strong signal reception for both 1090MHz (Mode S/ADS-B) and 978MHz (UAT), making it ideal for tracking aircraft at all altitudes.✅ Durable Fiberglass Construction – Built to last, with weather resistance that would hold up well outdoors if needed.✅ N-Type Connector for Low Loss – Works great with low-loss coax like LMR400, ensuring minimal signal degradation.✅ Compact Yet Powerful – Even indoors, this antenna performs on par with larger outdoor setups.✅ Easy to Install – No complicated setup—just mount it in a good position, connect it to an SDR/dongle, and start tracking!Cons:⚠️ Needs a Good Coax Cable – To get the best performance, use low-loss cable (like LMR400) since longer runs can degrade the signal.⚠️ Attic Performance May Vary – While I get 200+ miles, results may differ depending on obstructions or RF interference.

Nearly doubled the range and message rate
I just received this a few hours ago, and was anxious to get it at least temporarily mounted outside until I have the time to properly mount it. So right now I have the antenna zip tied in a pretty poor position. I had view1090-fa loaded up on my RPI5 (via an ssh connection on my phone) to monitor in realtime the difference when I connected the new antenna. I was very pleased with the results! The aircraft tracked nearly doubled, as well as the ADS-B message rate (and range). Before I had a pretty junky telescoping antenna (that came with my SDR) mounted in a great position, and now I have this new antenna mounted in a bad position (both with SAW filters) and still have much better results with the new one. Also appreciated the size of it as well as the mounting hardware, feels and looks like quality items. Excited to properly mount it this weekend!

    Good ADS-B antenna.
Awesome antenna for ADS-B, mounted on my roof at gutter height and gives me around 180 mile range with lots of aircraft. Good build quality, has been outside in all weather for a couple of years and working great still.

Great ADS-B antenna for low cost
Works great! Installed in my attic, and has good reception through the roof. Installation went well except I was missing a nut, Thankfully I had some spare hardware that I could use to complete the installation.

    Good coverage
Mounted on the roof of a one-story house and connected to an ADSBExchange dongle this has picked up aircraft over 200 miles away.

    Solid Antenna
Solid antenna that appears to be tuned to the proper frequencies for ads-b signals. This is pulling in signals from over 200 nautical miles from my location even with the antenna mounted in the attic. It comes with mounting hardware except for the lag bolts that you need to fasten the bracket to the house. It does have U-bolts to mount to a pole, so that’s good if you mount it that way.

    “Low-loss” RG-58 cable is a misnomer.
At 1000 MHz, RG-58 has a loss of about 17.5 dB/100 feet. If you have to have a cable run longer than 10 feet, either put a low noise amplifier right at the antenna or choose a real low-loss cable like LMR-240. Ask your friendly neighborhood ham radio guru for help if necessary. No point in connecting a high-gain antenna to a receiver through a high-loss cable.

    Nice quality coax
I decided to modify the feedline by shortening it to 3ft so I could get my amplifier right next to the antenna and I have to say, I’m very impressed by the coax. I’ve cut up more expensive products with coax that had barely any shielding at all, but this had the thickest braided coax shield Ive seen on RG58, It was very impressive. The results so far seem great, I am using this antenna as a dedicated 978 MHz UAT receiver. About 3ft of feedline away from the antenna I have a 978 MHz SAW filter feeding a Nooelec LaNA wideband low-noise amplifier that then goes through about 20 ft of 75ohm RG6 before ending at a Nooelec SmarTee radio. So far on day 2 of running I can see my total UAT aircraft and position counts are right in line with the other people I’m competing with nearby. Very happy with my purchase!

The antenna is physically smaller than I had imagined in my head, however this is to be expected with the 5dBi gain figure along with the fact that it is an antenna for 978 and 1090Mhz (corresponding to a half-wave length of ~15cm (6″). I would consider opening this up to see how it is made but that would certainly disrupt the weather sealing which appears to be quite good. When measured with a spectrum analyzer, the SWR was found to be 1.5:1 at 978Mhz and 1.2:1 at 1090MHz which is quite good considering the manufacture and frequency. I’d consider transmitting on this antenna with figures that decent (though at very low power). The antenna is supplied with a decent N to SMA cable which claims to be RG-58/U which should translate to a signal loss of ~2dB in the 10′ of cable versus ~4dB for RG178B/U which is common with whip antenna types; you get 66% more signal for the same length of coax! With a little bit of coax sealing tape, this antenna will be going into service to replace my temporary (portable) magnetic whip antenna. After installing this antenna at the exact same location as the (compromise magnetic) temporary antenna I saw an immediate increase in maximum reception range on the order of 50km. I also noticed a significant increase in the number of aircraft being received in intermediate ranges (100-150km).

I’m usually not one to write reviews, but I almost doubled my pickup and doubled my messages received with this antenna.Sub $100, you’d be silly not to try it. FA and F24: tnhau

I have been struggling with a deteriorating Flight Aware antenna to the point of a wifi antenna doing a better job.. screwed this antenna into the coax and while it’s in my hand at ground level it started picking up aircraft 50-100nm away. Now mounted and so far hitting 220nm – FR24, FA and PF stats are all accessible world wide for topher2880
