Just as good as the fancy name brands
This is a great light jacket. Comfortable, looks good, fits great, good quality.I’d never heard of this brand before this purchase but now I’ll go back to them for future jacket purchases.

Okay for the money, less bad than the Columbia Ascender
I was also considering the Columbia Ascender softshell jacket, but chose this instead because 1) it felt warmer, 2) it was more of a slim fit (the Ascender is more boxy), 3) the price was lower and 4) I didn’t like how prominent the white logo was on the Ascender. Quality-wise they seem about the same, but only time will tell. There are a few things I don’t like about the jacket. The collar is a bit stiff and because of that, it sometimes pokes my chin (the Ascender is the same in this regard). The label at the neck is scratchy and annoying, so I removed it by cutting out the stitches with small scissors. The sleeves are a bit narrow, which makes it hard to get a long sleeved shirt through without the sleeves getting bunched up. But that’s part of getting a slimmer fit. Finally, the color is not really black. It is more of a dark, charcoal grey. The Ascender was a much truer black, and better in that regard.I can wear the jacket with just a t-shirt underneath and be comfortable at ~60F. Colder than that and I’d want to layer up. It does seem to be pretty effective against wind and rain, but I haven’t really tested that yet.

Sleek and windproof with drawstrings for blistering winds
Soft shells are the winter layer you are missing. This goes over the hoodie and thermals and under the carhartt. I had a soft shell before but some firework antics charred it up good. The waist drawstrings are the big seller tho. I am a 6’4” string bean and bought M size. Sleeves are plenty long but the bottom will show a hoodie below it. IM so skinny I need length not width so Medium it is.
