Compact and small, this carbon monoxide detector is a great tool to have for unsure situations. It’s not meant for long running use- more for readings periodically.The carry case is a nice touch, and helps it pack away safely. It’s simple to use, and self-calibrating which I appreciate. The reader is ready to go quickly, and appears to give out accurate readings. It works well at giving the minimum warning through to a max threshold dangerous warning. Please read the instructions thoroughly to safely operate and have the knowledge to keep yourself safe.The battery life is great, and only using the unit periodically it lasts quite awhile. It’s a rugged and helpful tool that’s been made well. The price is nice for the quality.

⚠️ Safety Warning – Not a Continuous CO Detector
This device is marketed as a personal carbon monoxide safety detector, but it automatically powers off after only 5 minutes and completely stops monitoring. I used it in a CO-risk environment, and it shut down while clipped on my belt. The seller confirmed this behavior and told me I must keep interacting with it every few minutes to keep it on.A CO detector that turns itself off creates a false sense of protection and could delay detection of dangerous carbon monoxide levels, potentially leading to serious injury or death. As designed, this product is not safe for continuous personal CO monitoring.In its current design, this product should be recalled before it leads to a serious injury or worse.

There was a major gas leak a block away from us and this gadget warned us of the danger. The alarm went off and the reading matched what both the fireman had as a reading as well as the gas company. I am so glad I received it.

Been using this portable CO detector for three main purposes – sleeping in the cabin of my boat, sleeping in my truck on occasion, and camping.This small, compact unit is perfect for what I need it for.Tested it out in several different scenarios including burning woord, car engine fumes, and boat engine fumes, and this unit worked as advertised with a very clear audible alarm, vibration alarm, and flashing light. You can also adjust the concentration settings depending on where you have it set up (between low and high ventilation spaces)Its nice that it has a 30 hour battery in it that is rechargeable, so it lasts all weekend.Comes with a hard case, a c-type usb charger, and very descriptive and easy to read manual..

My first impressions were that this is sturdily built and obviously intended primarily to be used by trade people who will be working in areas at risk of CO contamination or to check devices they are working on (e.g. old boilers). It looks like it could survive being dropped (although I haven’t tested that!) and it has a clip that would allow it to be attached to clothing, so it checks as the wearer moves around..For a domestic user, this offers some advantages over the usual wall-mounted versions we usually have:- It can be adjusted to apply different tolerance levels before alerting (or you can see what the tolerance is).- Depending on how you set it, it can detect very low levels of CO contamination.- You can use it to check your home for CO, giving confidence that your wall-mounted unit is not missing anything.- You can take this with you when you travel, so you can check a rental property using your own meter.It comes with a storage case and can be re-charged via a USB connection.It powers off after 30 minutes, so it cannot be used to constantly monitor and it therefore could not replace a domestic wall-mounted meter. It is intended to actively check for CO rather than being a passive, ongoing check.It is very good at what it is intended for.

I picked this up too keep in my bag as a portable CO alarm for unknown accommodations when travelling.It looks great, and seems to be well built with very good interface and software, and a branded electrochemical cell from a company I have heard of at work where we use eCells regularly.Its priced well as it costs less than the equivalent eCells from if bought as single units.During the start-up it does an alert check and vibrates, then flashes the LEDs as expected, and then when you would expect it to do an audible buzzer test.. it doesnt do it, and the screen doesnt even say its trying too. (See the video I posted).The audible alarm does sound during an alarm, with a 2 tone siren type alert, but it would be nice if it ran this during the self test. I couldn’t see any way to enable that during testing, and its not configurable during alarms, so you will always get all 3 alert types. (thought I cant think why you wouldn’t want that)Response time isn’t listed anywhere I can see, but its pretty quick and detection seems accurate as expected, thought calibration would be tricky as there is a calibration hood mentioned in the manual however this isn’t supplied, so you would need to manufacture your own clip over cover to connect a cal gas bottle to this (it needs 100ppm bottles as the span is fixed in the calibration menu)

Like many people, British Gas insisted I get a carbon monoxide detector when I had a boiler installed. They didn’t mind which one, and frankly, I appreciated their care.The one I purchased does (as far as I know) a great job. A little white box with a little green LED that flashes every now and again.However, I have long wondered at what threshold level is it set? What if the threshold is too high? Does its performance deteriorate over time? Who knows!So, it was with interest that I ordered this Carbon Monoxide detector through Vine.When I received it, I was impressed with the quality of the packaging and presentation of the product. This continued when I saw that a storage case has been included, and when I held the unit in my hand and turned it on. The rubberised exterior is reassuringly rugged, and the backlit LCD screen is very clear and easy to understand.What I didn’t realise was that I was getting something that is so portable. This is more than the sort of detector that you put in the corner of your room and forget about, this is designed for going out and about and real-time monitoring of an individual’s surroundings.I think it’s great that when you switch it on, it goes through a self-checking process, and I also think it’s great that you get (almost) real-time monitoring of carbon monoxide levels. I am pleased to say that my household reads ‘zero’, long may this continue!A few years ago, I stayed in a beautiful Air B&B that had a log burner. I had a wonderful evening sitting in front of that log burner, but the next morning I had a blinder of a headache.Maybe it was incomplete combustion or inadequate ventilation, or maybe it was the alcohol, but I just wish that I had this little unit back then…
