APX look-alike that’s very good for the price point.
The price of the special combo pack (with the extra antenna) was better than what was available on eBay. The radio itself is very good, has good clear transmit signal (per the other radio operators) and reception is quite decent… as long as you’re not in an area with heavy strong RF presence. In such area, this radio’s ability to receive weak signal is poor. I was able to pick up repeater signals fine in an area that was full of commercial broadcasting transmitters but trying to receive weak simplex signal was zero. RF dense areas desensitizes the radio to weak signals. Radio is programmable via CHIRP software, battery life is very good (as long as you’re not transmitting high power for long time), keypad interface to access radio functions are not too bad but does getting used to. Radio looks very similar to the APX series radio but doesn’t weigh like the APX radios. Battery screws into the bottom of the radio… it not clipped on, don’t know if it’s a good thing or bad thing. One thing I don’t like is the display light. It’s either on or off. If you turn the display light setting off, it stays off when you press the keys. If you turn the light on (and set for x number of seconds to stay lit) the display lights up when you press any key AND when you receive a signal AND when you transmit. I prefer the display to stay off UNLESS I press a front keypad or a dedicated light button. The only light that should come on when in use is the RED transmit and GREEN receive light, not the entire display. At night, it looks ridiculous. I’ve noticed that about many of the Baofeng radios. But overall, the radio is very good for the price and features. Oh, the radio doesn’t have belt clip. It comes with a radio pouch. If you want a belt clip similar to how APX radios work, you’ll need to get it separately.

Right up front the included nylon(?) holster is poop. Buy the plastic holster with belt clip. The radio is good, easy to operate and program from the keypad. The included flexible antenna is nice, strong and well built. Good for using at a stationary situation. Gives APX vibes.

Radio was shipped with tape over the battery output tabs that contact to the radio. I charged it and it would not turn on. Removing the tape (obviously) allowed the radio to turn on. Always check the battery to assure that the tape is removed! There’s nothing in the manual that warns you to remove the tape. Then radio description on the item page indicates it has DMR capabilities, it does not! Only the DMR version of the radio! The description should be corrected.Also the Bluetooth programming software was found on the Baofeng website, however, no directions and a very complex screen, Chirp is much better. All three included antennas have SWR in excess of 2.0:1
