Customers say
Customers find the antenna works well for ADS-B reception and offers incredible range, with some reports of getting planes up to 200+ miles away. The build quality receives mixed feedback, with one customer reporting issues with the base falling apart. The magnet strength and frequency range also get mixed reviews – while some find the magnets decently strong, others say they’re not strong enough, and while some units are tuned for 1090/978MHz, others are not. Customers consider it a great value.

ADS-B, incredible range, magnet is useful
I’ve been using this antenna to capture ADS-B signals for four years now and I still absolutely love it — the range I can catch is just incredible (I’m pairing it with an RTL-SDR that has an ADS-B filter). Highly recommend (the magnet at the base is especially clutch).

Good buy for flightaware
Works excellent with my flightaware SDR. Good reception in a less than ideal location.

More than doubled my range and aircraft received
I am using this antenna in my attic with a 16″x12″ metal sheet as a ground plane. I am now able to get ADS-B data from planes within 100 miles of my location. With the antenna on the ADS-B receiver I was limited to less than 50 miles. If conditions are right I get planes at 150 miles or more.Keep in mind the height of planes and hills / mountains will impact your range, but over all it is a MUST if you are serious about ADS-B. a good cheap way to quickly improve your station!

I can see more airplanes with my RTL-SDR
I use this with an HDTV adapter to capture airplane transponders for fun. This antenna captures more airplanes than the HDTV antenna so I rate it good.It has a long cord and a magnetic base which is great because I can stick it on a light on my ceiling and get it off the floor or table.

Using for FlightAware ADSB SDR
I bought this antenna to use with the FlightAware ADS-B SDR, and it works great. I am using it indoors, near a window, and getting reception out to about 60 miles. I am not sure what the issues others are having. I literally configured PiAware on my Pi, took the antenna out of the bag, connected to the USB ADS-B receiver and in about 5 minutes it was already pulling in data.

Absolutely not tuned antennas, terrible signal
Only swapped the antenna on the graphs i’m posting here. You can see the immediate nearly complete loss of signal from this antenna vs the cheapest little telescoping antenna that came with my sdr. Total joke, don’t waste your money. A paperclip stuffed into the connector would have better reception than this.

Great for simple useage
So I held off and had been using the little default antenna that came with the USB dongle and my Raspberry Pi for ADS-B uploading to planefinder.1 – the magnets on these antenna are MUCH stronger than the default that came with the USB dongle. They are NOT meant to be used on a vehicle, so stop trying to drive down the road at 45+MPH then complain that they don’t stay on! Otherwise, peel off the bottom and get your own Earth magnet and glue in place.2 – my gain actually DROPPED waaaaaayy down and I lost a multitude of reporting. I grabbed the NANO and verified like another user that these were not actually 1090 or 978 MHz. I’ll be trimming mine down and retesting. Otherwise, I’ll either send these back or use them on another project and go back to my default antenna or make my own.3 – these would more than likely do better and have a better SWR without the curly-cue .. just make them straight – the magnets are not strong enough to allow these to flex if bumped as they would just fall off the ground plane you are using. Radial lengths should either be 137.5mm (1/2 wave) or 68.75mm (1/4 wave) for proper ADS-B receiving – that being tip to base, not tip to magnet. I’ll know more if I decide to trim off the curly queue after measuring and seeing if I’ll have enough for a 1/2wave otherwise it’ll be a 1/4wave).4 – love the adapters that were also provided! They do work perfectly!

Great DB Gain!
I ordered this antenna for my FlightAware usb module. With its original antenna I was getting planes that were no further out than 25 miles. With this antenna I am now getting readings from planes as far away as 90 miles! I didn’t need the adapter that came with it – the end of the cable screwed right into the FlightAware module. The cable is about 9 or 10 feet long – plenty to get it out where you need it. I placed it on our metal carport roof and the magnetic base seems very stable. Very happy with my purchase!

hooked it up to my rpi3 via flightaware/piaware and it receives signals no issue. i am only getting out to about 100nm, but it is more likely due to my location than the antenna.

Bonjour, j’ai utilisé cette antenne avec un flighAware pro plus, le résultat est extrêmement satisfesant (150km a 200km!). Il est vrai que la base de l’antenne est petite, donc peu stable.
Garry A Lockyer –
Works great! Doubled the range of aircraft tracked for FlightRadar24.
Robert Mitchell –
Works as advertised.

Thats literally just a random antenna doesn’t even look like the picture
