Customers say
Customers find the walkie-talkies offer good value for money and appreciate their rechargeable battery packs, with one customer noting they can charge both radios from a single USB adapter. They like the feature set, with one highlighting the 17 menu items that can be adjusted, and find them easy to configure and use, with one mentioning compatibility with HAM or GMRS ear-mic’s and shoulder-mic. The range receives mixed feedback, with several customers reporting worthless 100 ft range, while functionality and radio quality also get mixed reviews.

Highest power and best feature FRS-only radio handsets
Among FRS-only handheld radios (no license required), if you want the highest power and most features, at only double the cost compared to the cheapest toy FRS-only radios, the BTECH FRS-A1 is the very best quality and most capable FRS-only handset, and is my favorite pick.I’ve bought and given several of these as gifts to friends who don’t have a Ham or GMRS license, and they get my highest recommendation for those looking for the best FRS-only handset.Both the BTECH FRS-A1 (~$50 including 2 handsets) and the Radioddity FS-T1 (~$30 including 2 handsets) both transmit at 2 watts, the maximum allowed for FRS-only radios. Both are extremely similar. And both are exceptional for their price. However, in my opinion the BTECH FRS-A1 is worth the extra ~$20 (~$10 extra per handset) for these slightly better features:- USB-C connector for the charger, for faster and more compatible charging, instead of Micro-USB.- Mic/Earphone jack is standard K1 size/style, compatible with HAM or GMRS ear-mic’s or shoulder-mic and PC programming cables, instead of a single combined smaller mic/earphone jack.- Supports Chirp PC programming, useful to program a large set of radios with identical privacy tones/codes.- Includes a K1 size/style ear-mic accessory, can be reused on other K1 jack HAM or GMRS radios.- Can scan for channels and scan for all 260 CTCSS/DCS privacy tones/codes, and use them to join in to other people’s conversations, very useful in an emergency.- Commercial FM Radio (music/news) has both manual and auto scan/search, not only scan/search.- Channel names can be customized, not just showing ch# or frequency- An indicator light to show when transmitting/receiving a signal- Charger connects directly to batteries, not through the handset, so extra batteries can be charged while the handset is away.- IP54 weather resistance (which is kind of weak, but better than nothing)Both radios also support the following very useful features:- All 22 FRS and GMRS simplex channels. (FRS does not support GMRS repeater input frequencies)- NOAA weather channels- Basic channel, squelch, volume controls, calling/alert tone, unsquelch/monitor, and both channel and frequency display.- Other advanced handset features, such as keypad lock, VOX mode, Busy Channel lockout, Transmit time-out-timer, and dual-watch dual-frequency listening.- Included 1500ma lithium ion rechargable batteries, no need to buy disposable or rechargable AA or AAA batteries.- Split cable 2 in 1 charger, to charge both radios from a single USB adaptor and wall socket.- Flashlight, belt-clip and wrist-strap.Neither of these are toys. They’re both the best FRS-only radios you can get for the money. So it just depends if you’re willing to spend $10 extra per handset, for the very best, which is the BTECH FRS-A1.

Good Radio! Better than other FRS radios;
I’ve checked out and returned several other FRS radios from different companies. This is the only FRS radio I recommend to friends and members of our neighborhood em com group. What I like about this radio is that it’s not complicated and has all 22 FRS channels as compared to other FRS radios that only have 16 channels. Also spare batteries are readily available at about $9. Additionally this radio has CHIRP configuration software available which makes it easy and straightforward to configure. None of the other FRS radios have CHIRP programming ability as far as I’ve seen. This FRS radio is slightly more expensive than others, but the quality, ease of configuration and use, all 22 FRS channels, and that extra batteries are readily available is what sets this radio apart from other FRS radios. Well worth the extra few dollars. In my residential area from my second story house I can talk to others at about 1/2 plus miles which is typical for these types of radios. Reception is extremely good. I can hear GMRS radios from around 3 miles away. This is the only FRS radio I recommend and purchase. And the user manual is in excellent English.

Short range good price for two
range isn’t too long about a mile and a half they say its 8 but that’s simply not true, it works great though and for the price its really not bad especially for two radios

Great walkies
Great walkies, I bought these because they run on the same channels as my walkers hearing protection with the walkie attachment so when hunting or even target practice we have full communication.

Really Good, but Minor Issues
Thesr radios perform as well as you can get for an FRS radio. The Li ion batteries allow them to be light and compact. The display is busy and a little hard to read, but it does convey a lot of information. The audio is loud enough. The audio has no noticeable distortion.The Btech FRS-A1 radio’s menus are a subset ot Btech and Baofeng menus. There are many options, so these radios are somewhat more complicated than blister pack radios. Fortunately, most usere wouldn’t want to change the default settings. There are some features from the commercial world that mitigate your interfereing with other users such as time out timer, and busy channel lockout. These features might make the radio appear to be not working, if you’re not aware of them; read the well-written manual.A minor problem was that one of batteries did not latch in place. The latch was compressed open. I fixed it by CARFULLY prying it out and holdingy there for a minute. I hope I haven’t damaged the latch and that it will stay fixed.Another thing that happened was that when I attached the charger, the LED glowed amber. The manual says that it should be red for charging. I left it on charge for 4 hours and the LED was still amber. It turned green, which means charged, when I wiggled the connector.One more minor issue. Like most hongheld radios, the push-to-talk key is on the left when facing the radio. The antenna is opposite, on the right. Because the radio is compact, there is a tendency to rest a finger on the antenna while holding the radio. Touching the antenna can reduce the range.

Worked Ok
Did not play nicely with my other FRS radios.

I wouldn’t buy them again.
Disappointed in these they may only work on an open land not for the city.

USB-C connector plug broke off from the charging cable
I used the included wall charger with split (2) USB-C connectors, but one of the connectors broke off when removing it from the B-TECH, FRS radio. Too bad, because of the poor quality I have to give a two-star rating. The hand-held FRS radios work OK, but now I’m down to only 1 USB-C connector on the charging cable. “Bummers Dude”! Not able to charge both radios at the same time.
