Not complicated and these Clarity phones work !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I bought a different one by Clarity but it didn’t have caller ID (my bad – oldtimer’s lack of attention to detail), so I bought this one and it works like a champ. Returning the first one was easy. I have a pretty profound hearing loss in both ears, and I’ve been struggling to hear conversations on the phone for years despite wearing hearing aids. Anyway, read the instructions, hooked this one up, and I can hear every word the caller says clearly and loudly. I’m not even using the loudest volume available. Otherwise, works like any other phone — punch the number in and it calls; hear it ring loudly (or see the light flash for incoming and you answer. Not complicated.

Enough volume for really extreme loss of hearing.
Bought this phone for a 90- year old dementia patient with extreme hearing loss. The phone can be set up so that the amplification is one when the phone is picked up, which was necessary for this user. Now she can hear and so can I from across the room. I tried other phones before ordering this one and they simply did not amplify the sound enough for her. Now we can have a conversation on the phone. In fact, it may now be easier to talk with her by phone than in person. :)Note: As someone who have never looked for an amplified phone, I found lots that claimed to amplify about 20 dB. This would be enough for someone who has just started to notice they are missing a word or two here or there. 53 dB amplification is enough for someone who essentially cannot hear to be able to use the phone.

lasted just over a year! Don’t buy.
Phone worked great. Used maybe 30 min a day . Just past a year the boost failed and no longer can hear . A year with little use just doesn’t cut it. Come on figure this out people. Now im one month past warranty ! Eat this one lesson learned. So back to finding something that last a few years.

Received the first one and the sound was loud but muffled/distorted even to me and my hearing is pretty good. Talked to a specia
Purchased for my mother who is hard of hearing. Received the first one and the sound was loud but muffled/distorted even to me and my hearing is pretty good. Talked to a specialist at Clarity and he told me to return it for another which I did. Received the new one yesterday and it is no better than the original. Sending that one back and will have to try another brand/model. Unfortunate because it has a lot of nice features.

Right features for one ederly user
Bought this for my mother whis is 104. She certainly notices incoming calls, and can use the priority speed dial numbers. Speakerphone works acceptably well with her hearing aids. I wouldn’t generalize, because I expect most people who need help with a telephone have specific needs.

    3 memory buttons
UPDATE:After a power outage, you must replace the batteries and leave it unplugged for a few minutes… and the memory numbers/speed dial numbers will restore themselves. We choose 1, but it keeps blinking “yes.” Is this a manufacturing flaw that requires a new phone? This is our third alto plus phone… with the same problem. Please email us the answer at burtyk43068@yahoo.comPress the MENU button, then press the DOWN arrow to the ā€œView MemDial?ā€ screen . You will have the option of choosing ā€œYesā€ or ā€œNoā€ . Select ā€œYesā€ by pressing the One (1) button.

This telephone has excellent voice amplification for incoming calls, even if you are suffering bad hearing loss this telephone should help you as it provides up to a maximum 53db voice amplification on incoming calls and is hearing aid compatible. The amplification levels for incoming calls and the sound of the ringer are fully adjustable, the frequency/voice tones can be adjusted or you can have overall boosting of all voice frequencies. The telephone can also be configured to remember your preferred voice amplification level. You can also plug in a headset or neck loop as it is hearing aid compatible. There is also the option to use a Bed Shaker. This telephone can also help those people who speak softly or are elderly and have a weaker voice as it can amplify the voice of the outgoing caller. It can also used as a hands-free speaker phone. Many telephones that have voice amplification provide much lower voice amplification. The numbers on the keypad are big and easy to read, the LCD screen display is satisfactory. It also supports Caller Identification/Caller ID But you must contact your telephone service provider and have the feature activated on your phone service.I am located in Australia and this telephone is compatible with Broadband Internet and it works well with the VOIP telephone system.I am amazed at how well it amplifies incoming calls.Be warned this is an American Import and comes with an American power cable and plug, so you will need to purchase a suitable power adapter or a Travelers Plugin Socket Adaptor. The only gripe I have about this telephone is that it only has 3 one touch dial buttons and can only store 10 more names/numbers in its phonebook.I am very satisfied with this telephone as I have hearing difficulty issues and this telephone has helped hear callers quite clearly.

I bought this phone for my 91-year old mom who is partially deaf. I have to talk to her “good” ear 6 inches away for her to hear. With the Clarity phone she’s excited to re-connect with her friends over the phone. 5 out of 5-stars for phone volume and ringer loudness. The user manual is a little frustrating to understand. I rated it 3 out of 5 for manual’s satisfaction – If all I need is to store numbers I do NOT want to know anything else about the phone please!
