Good 4U rack!
This is just the type of rack I needed for my new Soundcraft UI24R mixer/recorder. The plastic and metal is sturdy. Some added perks – (1) the storage compartments in the front and back lids and (2) the lids actually connect together when they are not in use. That’s convenient so that the storage doesn’t get out and loose. If I have one drawback it’s that the zipper on one of the lids looks like it may not zip properly somewhere down the line. Besides that, I like it a lot so far.

Great value, good quality rack case.
The prices for rack cases is crazy, this one is pretty reasonable and I don’t find any negatives that make me wish I had a better one. The foam microphone holder was pretty useless for me — I wouldn’t trust it with any of my mics, but I didn’t buy it for that. I took that foam out because the knobs on my mounted power amp stick out a bit. Looks well made, durable and suits my purposes.

Compact, Rugged, and Priced Right
I try to avoid rack cases, but I needed a two-space rack with 19″ rails and short depth, to make rear connections easier. This rack case fits my needs perfectly. Cost and weight are minimized using blow-molded construction and minimal metal parts. The covers are retained with the usual twist latches, with a nice variation. The latches are mounted on the front cover, so there aren’t any floppy parts when the case is in use. The rear latches are attached to the case, as usual. The rear cover has a zipper compartment for cables and small stuff. The front cover has loops and a foam insert.

Assembly required.
The first thing that surprised me was that you have to assemble the case. Normally this wouldn’t be a problem but for a case I am worried about its ability to hold up. The pieces are held together with short screws that could easily be overtightened and cause it to lose its grip on the plastic. The screw holes should have been reinforced with metal inserts so there would be less of a chance of over tightening. The unit is perfect in size and doesn’t have any grooves on top which is why I purchased it. I wish the unit had the pouches on both ends. Mic foam is useless for me. I would like to purchase the mesh but I can’t find it anywhere.Time will tell on durability but for the moment it is a good case besides the above.

Fit & Function mismatch & design flaw
Really unfortunate! With the exception of some dings/dents/blemishes, the case looks built alright, solid hardware & seems durable, HOWEVER…The rack rails sit too close to the front edge of the case to make this case usable in most instances due to a thick “tongue & groove” designed edge for the lids along with the mesh pocket & foam inserts in the lids. Whether it’s wireless gear with protruding antennas, other gear with buttons or knobs, another 1/2” depth from the front edge would make this case usable. In my specific scenario, the Midas M32C & DN interfaces with thick bezels on the rack ears do not allow either lid to fasten to the case due to the thickness of the lid edge. In the picture you can see the Midas bezel blocking the lid from connecting to the case & wireless antenna already pushing into the foam insert. It’s unfortunately getting returned as a result of this issue as I cannot use it with any of my gear.

Assembly Required, Feels Low Quality
I really wanted to love this rack case. For the price and features it seemed great! I’ll start with what I liked:- Microphone foam pre cut and installed in one of the lids.- Size/form factor. Now for the issues:- Maybe I missed it but nowhere in the listing did I see assembly being REQUIRED. Not the end of the world but…- The rack rails have a bit of metal in the center that protrudes downward. This causes fit issues with several pieces of equipment. In my case it forced me to install my gear in a certain way.- Several of the rack rail threads are either incorrectly drilled or coated in paint which alters the threading. This made some of the mounting points unusable/only usable by forcing the screws to go in.- One of the rack mount threads stripped out during install. Not sure if I can get the screw out again without substantial effort.- When I assembled the main part of my case, the side screws protruded through the case material. I’ll need to file those down so I don’t accidentally poke myself.- The foam material on the top and bottom feels cheap. I’ll update my review after a couple of months to see how it does. My feeling is the foam will show significant wear and tear.Overall still willing to give this case a go but wanted to share my experience for those mindful of build quality.
