Active Noise Reduction Technology (ANR) – No More Unwanted Noise.

Faro G2 Active reduces the unwanted ambient noise in the cockpit by using both Passive Noise Reduction (PNR) and Active Noise Reduction (ANR). Passive Noise Reduction is achieved by placing sound absorbing material between your ears and the outside environment. Active Noise Reduction is achieved by placing a microphone inside the ear cup to ‘read’ incoming noise and generating an ‘anti‐noise’ signal through the speakers. The anti‐noise and the ambient noise will cancel each other before they reach the ear. Through this technology, low frequency ambient noise is significantly reduced and important communication can be heard in a clear, crisp manner. The best part is that the G2 headset will continue to operate as a standard aviation headset should the ANR become inactive for any reason such as low or no battery power.

Additional Information:
  • Uses two AA batteries – Battery will last up to 30 hours depending on environment.
  • Supports mono and stereo intercoms.
  • Headset will operate as normal PNR headset with low or no battery power.
  • Connection Type: Standard Dual Plug for GA.
  • 3-Year Full Coverage Warranty – Satisfaction Guaranteed. If anything happens to your headset, simply ship it back to Faro Aviation and receive a replacement within 3 years of purchase. Great budget ANR headset
This was a huge upgrade in functionality, noise cancellation, and comfort from my previous DC knock-off trainer headset. I appreciate having separate volume controls per ear. The battery cover is a little tough to remove, but that’s not a bad thing necessarily since you don’t want it coming off unless you mean to change the batteries. Battery life is pretty decent – I got about 25-30 hours of flight time before I needed to make my first battery change.Audio quality is clear and easy to hear. I’ve had no complaints about outgoing audio quality either. And while I love the bright yellow carrying bag, I wish it came with something a little more functional and protective.

    Works just like they say!!
Love noise cancelling but you have to put batteries in!! Even without batteries it was still great. Easy on the ears, not too heavy or tight. Boom adjusts easily. Wish we had bought them much sooner. Good price for the quality. Great bags to carry them in.

Great headset for any pilot! And a definite must have for those college student pilots out there!!
Absolutely love this headset. This isn’t my first headset, this is the second personal headset. My first was a hand-me-down college gift from a local pilot. Being humble I wore those uncomfortable things until I could afford to by be something a bit more. After learning to fly and getting to the point where I was alone on flights just racking up hours. I was missing out on music.BEING ABLE TO HAVE SLIGHT BACKGROUND MUSIC WHILE ON A LONG FLIGHT WITH NO AUTO PILOT. Is everything!!!If you are an aviator than you already know the Bose Headset is the “Apple” of headsets being all expensive and awesome. From personal experience and going to an aviation college where I’ve had the chance to try out the Fario headset (I own) and a peers Bose A130 (something like that). You can definitely tell the two separately. Given the fario have a bit more weight.I prefer my Farios because they still have the functions i wanted from the high end aviation headsets, like the Aux capability to allow for music listening, and the noise reduction/cancellation.I fly in a Cessna 172 which most pilot know that they can be fun and not so fun all at the same time as well as loud for what it is. Having had a headset that had no noise reduction or cancellation other than the foam around my ears, it was loud, and at times it was hard to hear the other pilot and also other on the radio. Not to mention the headaches that would take the duration of the flight. The noise reduction is so amazing. You can still hear the humming of the engine of course and most noises as well, they are substantially dampened tho. So when a transmission comes from either from another person in the plane or on the ground it’s like they are in a separate room and conversing with me.I love yo switch the sound cancelling on at home just to hear absolute quiet as well 😂😂

    Nice budget ANR headset.
:UPDATE #3:Eight years in. I own 2 or 3 pair of these, two see primary, regular use. They’ve been absolutely fine. Batteries last forever, they’re reasonably comfortable. You can talk over a GA engine. Still have never used a $1200 headset, but these are a great budget deal.:UPDATE #2:200+ hours on both headsets (bought two from this listing). Working great!:UPDATE #1:I now have 30 hours with this headset. It works perfectly fine. I just bought number two for my passenger as she prefers a quiet cockpit, and that ain’t happening in the 150. I now have two of these for less than one Lightspeed or Bose. My only issue is that I’ve never worn a $1000 headset, so I can’t compare. :(:ORIGINAL POST:I currently can only review the noise-cancelling qualities of the headset as I went up with the unit for the first time today, but had no one to talk to (either passenger-wise or ATC-wise).PROS:The ANR seems to work well. Listening to the drum of the Cont O200A in my Cessna 150 with ANR off was like my normal PNR headset. Flicking the switch to on and it becomes a quiet whine. Huge difference. Nice ‘n’ quiet.I did listen to a nearby ATC tower with ANR on and could hear them fine, though I did have to turn the radio up a bit higher than with my PNR headset. I didn’t speak to them, however. The price is great for a true ANR headset.CONS:To keep the price low, they presumably used basic headset technologies… the exposed steel and screw adjustments and a fairly lame boom mic. I am assuming they put the money into the ANR functionality, but to keep the price reasonable, skimped on the other areas. This is not a sexy Bose ANR headset, but it also doesn’t cost $1000, either. The battery box that also has the ANR switch is the size of a pack of cigarettes and it’s down close to the jacks themselves. It’s a plain, ugly rectangular box and pretty obtrusive at that. But maybe it’s better than all the extra weight up in the ear muffs.CONCLUSION:This seems like a good buy if you really want ANR tech, but don’t have a grand to spend on nicer headsets. A normal ASA brand PNR headset is $150. Spend an extra $200, if you want, and get this ANR.I am still a new pilot with little experience with headsets, but I think I would buy this again. More time and use will dictate how well it holds up and if repair or a return would be necessary.
