They appreciate its comfort, with one customer noting the decent padding, and one mentioning it can be used from either side. The sound quality receives mixed feedback – while some say it’s good, others find it too quiet. The noise reduction and microphone sensitivity also get mixed reviews, with passive noise reduction needing improvement and the microphone not being sensitive enough. Excellent at this pricepoint.
Let me just start by saying I am a beginning pilot and have not tried the more expensive headsets available out there. That having been said, I can’t imagine needing more then this headset provides. It is comfortable and quiet and even allows one to plug in one’s favorite MP3 player and listen to music while flying. Two things I want to point out about this headset; 1. It came out of the box a bit tight for my head. After a bit of careful bending it fit quite well. I recommend storing it stretched over it’s own box, it really helps keep it from becoming too tight. 2. Don’t expect great sound quality from your MP3 player with this headset. The resistance of aviation headsets is different enough that your music will be a bit ‘tinny’ and rather quiet. The good news is that you wont have trouble hearing important radio traffic and since the headset does such a good job keeping out cockpit noise, the diminished sound is still audible, if just as a ‘background music’ level. I plugged in my Itouch 4 and turned up the volume to maximum. The music sound is a bit lower then I would like, but tolerable. I am not sure if they made it this way by design or not, but you are in no danger of missing any important radio traffic due to listening to music. The noise cancelling mic seems to work well, but I have to turn up the squelch more then the old set I was using in order to keep my conversation from getting ‘clipped’ at the beginning.Radio traffic and intercom traffic is very clear in these headphones. Highly recommended.

    Good Student/Starter Headset
I purchased this as my first aviation headset. So far, I think it is overall a good purchase. The sound quality (at least for its primary function) is great. I love the dual volume control and switch for mono and stereo. The flexible boom mic is nice, but that is not to say it couldn’t be a bit longer. It does have some descent padding for comfort both on the ears and the top, but it still gets a little uncomfortable after extended use, though still within tolerable limits. The MP3 plugin feature is a good idea with a 3.5mm jack and included connector, but the audio quality for that (separate channel) is poor. This headset’s best feature is the noise reduction. It may be a little too quiet in fact. It’s no Bose, but depending on how long this one lasts me, I would consider buying another one. The price is good for students/starters.UPDATE: Long term this set has been great. It’s still working as well as when it was new. My only minor issue is that the oversized pads on the earpieces tend to get caught on the yoke if I hang it on there and they pop off really easily. They go right back on, but it takes some time and strength to put it back on correctly, and if you’re in a hurry to get airborne (or already in the air) it can be frustrating. Also, I find the earpieces to be rather large or bulky compared to other headsets. Yes, it’s a good sign of noise cancellation abilities, but sometimes it feels/seems a bit “clunky.”

    Great value
This is a great value. It has the light weight and the gel ear cups that make for a comfortable unit. Does all the things you expect it to do and does it well. Construction seems robust. It’s not hard to adjust it where you want it and it will stay there once you get it just right. The mp3 port is “a nice to have” and works well. Communication to and from others, both inside the cockpit and outside, is exceptionally good. The closest comparison in a DC in this price range is going to be the H10-76 helicopter headset. Used with an H2GA (Helicopter to General Aviation) adapter and it’s only a few dollars more USED than this is new. Between the two, build quality is on par and both have gel ear cups, but the FARO is nearly half the weight and the mic works better with the intercom systems in the GA planes we use. YMMVAt $170, this is at the upper range for beginner/student headsets, but is almost half the price of a DC H10-13.4. Only time will tell if it holds up as well as the DC, but it has started off well. Highly Recommended.
