Almost perfect Akg k712/k7xx replacements … worth every penny
While these were not my first choice in replacements it was my last.I was looking for pads for the k712 pro / k7xx. Now the pass for those cans are made flat and not angled like other akg cans.I fired them with some trepidation because of my tests with dekoni and brainwavz which yielded really bad sound.Lo and behold they were easy to install had extra foam for you to try instead of the stock ones.These are very comfortable and the foam is just like the originals. Only one sticking point. These are angled so they will tilt a bit forward.I thought this might change the sound stage like the others. They did not. The angle is just enough to get the back of your ears off the mesh in the headphone while delivering a very close reproduction to the original sound. The highs got slightly more aggressive and the bass slightly more defined vs rumbly.Great pads for the price. Buy two and keep a spare

Surprising impact on sound
I’ve had my AKG K701 headphones for many years, so I didn’t really notice the breakdown of the (original) pads until right after I washed them a month or two ago. Soon after, the headphones were increasingly uncomfortable to wear and I realized that my ears were resting directly on grill covering the drivers – that’s how degraded the pads had become. I considered ordering new OEM pads, but honestly I’ve now replaced the driver on one side of these headphones, resoldered the connection, repaired the wire and chewed up the outer cups in the process so I supposed it didn’t really make a difference. I just needed my headphones to be wearable again.These fit the AKG K701 perfectly. The material itself is not as nice as the OEM – you’d probably have to pay ~$80 for a pair of similar pads – but it is sufficient. Cushioning is okay, a little firm at first, I’m guessing they’ll break in over time. They are still fine for people with glasses, like myself.The one thing I didn’t expect is the boost in sound quality, which is truly remarkable. Improvements across all frequencies, everything is crisper and clearer with these new pads, enough that I feel like I’m wearing a new pair of headphones. I suppose people who know headphones well probably see this as obvious, but for me it was a very pleasant surprise.Would recommend for basic replacement pads for the AKG K701 headphones.

Get these and get spares.
These are incredible – borth for the price but also in spite of.My old pads were literally falling apart, and I couldnt find a reasonable oem solution. These are cheap and have the contour, so worst case scenario I just learn a 20 something dollar lesson.You get what you pay for:-Not as fuzzy-soft to the touch-A little uneven in shape. Just a tad-Have a slightly different profile from what I recall as oemWhy I still recommend these over oem:-The slightly taller pads only help with sound stage. My massive ears also are glad to have some better clearance.-Uneven feeling to touch goes away on the head. Still feels plenty soft too.-the foam is both more dense and more firm, somewhat nicer bass response because of this, but maybe a bit more squeezy. My big head with stretched out rubber bands appreciates it-Most of all, the upper mids and trebble finally feel “reference” again.So Im buying spares in case this company goes under or theres some weird patent thing or whatever.

The official replacement ear pads from AKG are a little soft and literally crumble with use. That makes that there is is lot of debris in the cup. Adding a little cleaning cloth and replacement foam circles for under the pads really is a thoughtful addition. It makes cleaning up easy and it avoids reusing the original circles that get clogged with pad debris and dust and are too difficult to clean. These circles are missing in the OEM package. I like the feel of the pads. They fit comfortable and they are black instead of the grey AKG ones.

Had these for about 3 weeks now and couldn’t be happier so far. I use my K702s daily and for hours at a time, so it’s important that these were comfortable and did do the job as well as the originals.So far, they seem like a great choice. The original pads are somewhat cleanable, and I’m going to try that now I have a new pair, but not sure how many times I can get away with that.Easy enough to fit, I think I found these easier to install than the originals, (which I have already removed in the past to clean once) although still tight enough with the correct, even pressure to twist them on.As you can see from the picture, they are properly tapered to the front for best fit and the velour feels right. No cheep manufacture smells either.Time will tell on the quality of the foam, but happy so far and they have returned my headphones to a place that sits juuuust away from my ears. This has improved the audio quality quite dramatically… to the point where I had to recalibrate my ears to accommodate the (excellent) K702s again.The K702s (owned for about 5 years now) are a very sturdy and great sounding set of studio headphones and well deserving of a new set of pads.

Wydaje się, że są trochę twardsze niż oryginalne, ale moje oryginały były już tak zużyte, że nie jestem pewien – nie pamiętam dokładnie jakie były, kiedy były nowe… Jestem też przekonany, że osoby piszące o zmienionej charakterystyce dźwięku porównują odsłuch na mocno zużytych oryginalnych gąbkach, kiedy ich uszy dotykały już niemalże głośników, z nowymi gąbkami, które przywracają poprawną odległość uszu od głośników. Moim zdaniem nie ma wpływu na jakość dźwięku jeżeli porównałoby się z nowymi oryginalnymi gąbkami.
