A Long Time H&R Block User
We have used H&R Block Tax Software for over 20 years, including when it was previously known as “Tax Cut” many years ago. The layout and program is easy to follow and type in your figures, so long as you have all your W-2’s, 1099 and other forms you need that have the dollar amounts you will need to enter. The software also has icons you can click on for additional easy-to-understand info on topics in case you may need a more detailed explanation. There are also tabs across the top of the screen that you can click on if you’d like to see a form with your info on it or if you’d like to quickly go to a certain topic in the program, as well as some other options. In earlier years, we used the software on CDs or disks that you’d insert into a drive to load onto your computer and you always had the disk as a backup in case you ever needed to reload it. So when they changed to digital downloads with no disk, we were skeptical at first not having that backup source in hand, but we found that they have worked perfectly. We always buy our H&R Block Tax software on Amazon during Black Friday or Cyber Monday sales for the best price and a backup with your activation code number is always available in your Amazon software library. When you first start the program, you’ll be asked to download any final updates that occurred since the program was made so it is complete and ready to go. Just click “yes” and it takes care of updating on its own. Next, you’ll be asked to enter a name for that return’s file and the location where you want it stored on your computer. Once that is done, you’re all set to begin. If you used H&R Block or Turbo Tax the previous year, it can auto load a lot of background and other info and save a good amount of typing. If you’ve also used some accounting software, it can also download that info for you. We always get the version that has the state program included, so when you’re done entering everything for your federal taxes, you then click to download the correct state program. All info from your federal return is then auto loaded into the state one and you just have to complete any unique items for your state. At the end, before e-filing, the program runs an accuracy check to flag any missed or questionable items that could trigger an audit. Once that is done, you’re ready to e-file and make a PDF backup copy. One copy of the software allows for 5 federal returns to be e-filed at no additional charge. Our NY state returns are also free, but I don’t know about any other state, so read the software’s description or ask Google or AI to see if your state has free e-file. After e-filing, a receipt with the date and time you e-filed appears so you can save it as proof in case you may need it later. Once the IRS and the state has accepted your return, you get an email reminding you to return to the program and finish to close it out for the year. H&R Block also advertises that they offer free support help as well as coverage in case the IRS audits you – we’ve never had to use these services and don’t know of anyone else who has, so I can’t comment on how well they may work. The H&R Block Tax Software has always worked well for us and we will continue to use it and buy it on Amazon during Black Friday or Cyber Monday.

Works fine on Windows 10 and imports old TurboTax Returns
Works fine on Windows 10. Did not want to upgrade to 11 and Turbo Tax requires 11 for 2025 returns. It basically walks you through each line item just like TurboTax and even imported my previous TurboTax returns. If you are a senior be sure to check the box for it. It gave me an additional $6000 deduction this year and saved me $$$ on my IRA distributions,($0 owed) which along with my SS is my source of income. Great choice and decent cost.

Taxes are easy and correct! But Annoying New Download Process 🙁
Been using this for over a decade. Gets better every year. However, one annoyance this year was the way you download it. I liked being able to do it directly from the Amazon page & not have to log on to yet another page (this one of H&R Block).This software walks you through, in easy to understand English, the different pieces of your Federal and (where applicable) State returns. I find this easier to use than TurboTax. Able to input manually or download W2s & 1099s. Helps with Itemized Deductions like charitable giving. Helped with my wife’s small side business. E-file from the software and get direct deposit returns super fast!Will use again next year.

Tips for Downloading Software
I have been purchasing the digital download of H&R Block from Amazon every year. I always see a lot of reviews saying that people can’t get the software to download properly. This software has always worked well for me, and I enjoy getting the Cyber Monday discount on it at this time of year. Here are some tips that I use to download the software. I hope this helps others:1. When I purchase the software, Amazon sends me an email with the activation code and gives me instructions on how to download the software. If you don’t get an email like this, you can still go on Amazon directly and get this information. To get your activation code, long into Amazon, go to your orders, and click on the order information for your software purchase. There will be a button in the order details for the Software Library. When you click on this button, it will take you to a page that shows your H&R Block purchase and activation code. There will be a highlighted title that says: How to Redeem This Item. Click on it, and a small window will appear with instructions on where to go for the download. You will need your activation code to download the software, as well as to verify the software after it is downloaded. You will also need it again to download your state forms. You can write down your activation code, or you can find it again in your Software Library on Amazon.2. I usually purchase and download the software in the beginning of December. I have seen a lot of reviews that say there are errors when trying to download before December. I don’t know why this happens, but if you find that the download link doesn’t work initially, try again at a later time.3. Some reviews also say that they try their activation code, and it doesn’t work. Sometimes, I have to re-type in my activation code to get it to go through.4. I always download the software through the Firefox browser, and I have not had any issues.

Download Was Easy For Windows 10
No problem downloading on my windows 10 computer. That’s why I purchased this program after years of using Turbo Tax. Easy step by step process to enter tax information. Much cheaper than Turbo Tax too. No regrets with this decision.
