Nice Replica of CWU 45P Flight Jacket
I purchased this CWU 45P flight jacket to replace my old Navy Nomex flight jacket. It’s made from nylon versus Nomex but it’s pretty well made and an excellent jacket for the price. I normally wear a men’s large and I ordered a large. It fit me perfectly. I added a few patches from my old squadrons and my wings with the Velcro patch on the left breast. I’m sure this jacket will be one of my “go to” jackets in cooler weather.

GREAT FLIGHT JACKET FOR WHAT YOU PAY
I am retired military and worked in Naval Air. I have the original Alpha Industries Jacket purchased from the uniform shop for about $150.00 but it has gotten a little small for me and I needed to go to an XL. The Alpha Jackets are now made of Nomex fire retardant and will cost you about $850.00. They are made in Knoxville, TN. When looking for a replacement I just needed one for everyday wear in cool weather. The nylon on the Alpha is much better quality but this one is ok. Both jackets have warm quilted lining. Pockets on the Alpha are higher. Since it’s not an expensive jacket I don’t have to worry as much about getting it roughed up. I’ve climbed under my truck a few times with it to change a tire and was able to clean it up with no problems. It is actually more comfortable than the Alpha, very light and has turned into my go to jacket when I reach in the closet to grab a jacket for everyday wear. In my opinion this jacket does the job just fine. Seems to wrinkle more that the Alpha after some wear but that’s due to the quality nylon that Alpha uses. I posted some pictures to show the differences in the jackets. The Alpha is on the left in the first picture. I also posted a picture of how the under arm is constructed. The Rothco has more freedom of movement sewed in the arms and back. See picture. The shades of green didn’t seem to be that different when I placed them side by side but photo shows a little more contrast in the shade. Alpha does offer a limited number of the older jackets like my old one but they are limited quantities and will cost about $160.00. They were sold out when I bought this one. Other vendors also sell these jackets. You might try the Pilots Store if your looking for better quality. This one worked out fine for me and I don’t really miss the Alpha Jacket. I may look at getting another Alpha some time in the future when I have nothing else to spend my money on.

Fantastic coat… and WARM
This coat is definitely the CWU (Cold Weather Unit). It’s heavily quilted. You are not wearing this in the summer. I’ll probably wear it about 15 days in california cooler mornings. The coat is very well made, excellent considering the price point. Other identical versions are more than triple the price. This thing is solid. Zipper is heavy duty. Lots of room, they run just very slightly big but not too much. My patches sewed on it well and look great. Overall just a fantastic high quality coat. Just understand this is quilted and very warm!

Great jacket
I am 5’10, 168 pounds I bought a size medium sage green and it fits great, I have the Dad Bod so the roominess people talk about works for me, I’m not sure why of all the complaints, it does have long arms but that’s because it’s made to do things in, so if you lift your arms up the jacket will not shoot up your back annoyingly, besides it’s 65.00 for a light,warm, comfortable, and good looking jacket. Give it a try.

Sizing chart is not accurate for my size of 2XL.
I should have ordered a 3XL. The 2XL I ordered was not made for up to a 57inch chest, as the chart stated. I am a 54 inch chest and the 2XL is a little snug, but I will wear it anyway. Reasonable quality and price.

Very good jacket
When I was in the AF I had one of these. It no longer fits, so I gave it to my grandson. I ordered this one in 1X (my normal size) which was a little small. So I returned it and got a 2X which fits good. So be advised these seem to run a little small.Decent price for a nice coat.

Just awful
I wasn’t expecting too much, but it’s bad, really bad. The length is about right for a bomber/flight jacket (a little high), but it’s just comically baggy, and not even uniformly so. The chest area is very roomy, fine if you want to layer (but certainly in excess of what I’d consider normal for a medium jacket), but the sleeves are absurdly even proportionally wider, so it doesn’t look like you’re wearing a baggy jacket, it looks like you have giant cartoon gorilla arms. It both looks and feels bad; as soon as you put the jacket on you’re overcome with disappointment.Aside from the fit, everything else is pretty shoddy too–the knit cuffs are different lengths, the fabric around the zipper is placed so that it reliably catches in the mechanism at the bottom, and the knit waist is loose and flappy. It gets a star for being kinda warm, at least? It’s something, I suppose; though even then, the jacket hangs so weird that it doesn’t actually zip up very far, leaving the base of your neck more exposed than a typical jacket.
